Poulan Pro
I have used Poulan Pro's version of the Poulan 25D and taken a like'in to them. But, the guy I used them with has had them for at least 10 years. His model was the Poulan Pro 25. I have seen them on the internet as S23 Arbor Pro's, off a farmers supply co. The Poulan Pro site sucks and I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone that still deals them. They run 38cc's with a 14" bar and an manual oiler over ride. A good climbing saw.

Amazing the Poulan climbing saw is still available, lacking a chain brake and anti vibration.
It used to be one of the best saws, before the quality fell off. They sure had great power. Today's saws are much lighter, smoother and quieter....well, until those of us wild men modify the mufflers....! |

I know it lacks antivibe and a chain brake, it will smoke any stock 020 stihl or 335 Husky. Thanks for the info.

Anytime you want to race your on. The 020T has to be stock no mod's on the muffler etc, because I run a stock Poulan 25D.
Your choice of wood.

Husky 288 I have a feeling my well worn 009 would take one of those with a stock out of the box Stihl chain! If I'm ever in Philly , I;ll try and prove it.........or you could come here, we'll ask Marty to supervise.

That S23 is NOT the same as the old 25's , it sucks and then blows! I had a couple when they first came out and there is no comparison. Not the same power, the controls are cheaper, the bar adjustment is even worse etc. I wouldn't trade my beat up 020 for a brand new S25 though either :alien:

No No No No,
You guys got it all wrong I still run an old Poulan Super 25 D, I used a Poulan Pro S25 at a friends home (his old climbing saw). My Poulan 25 D still runs 1/4" pitch chain, that I keep razor sharp(got the skin missing on my fingers to prove it). It's one mother of a saw, already raced a mod. 335, 019, 009 and left it in the dust. Now it's time to try a 020 T. It's not the saw but how you use it. |

So out of curriosity, I was in something similar to this challenge in a marksmansip event. I would suggest that someone slice a log into 2 shippable parts, with a distinctive mark on each half. Each "competitor" cuts a pre-agreed number of biscuits while videotaping the cuts. The tapes, biscuits, and what's left of the log are shipped back to the Judge-member for the final decision. The Posties may not like luggin' the lumber, but it's a good way to run a race in 2 places, so long as the sawyers are gentlemen of honour, and not up to tricks. Makes ya think, doesn't it?
